In 2014, documentary photographer dominicnahr traveled to Iraq with his Leica M9, where the Islamic State was killing, persecuting, and displacing Iraqi forces, Yazidis, Christians, and other minorities.
In the overcrowded refugee camps in the north, and in makeshift shelters that were often the only refuge left, Nahr spent hours with displaced families: Moving gently through their world, taking time for his images.
“I photograph to not forget,” he says, defining his work as a war and crisis photographer.
