Meet an artist documenting San Francisco’s changing landscape through her love of hand-painted signs. Rose D’Amato (spooky_orbison) is a second-generation sign painter who draws inspiration from the street signs that tell stories of her community.  “When you inherit something ... that’s a labor practice, you’re seeing yourself and your family reflected in what you do.” In her paintings, D’Amato applies the techniques she’s honed over the years, like lettering, airbrush, and pinstriping, while referencing forms from signs that have caught her eye around town. Watch D’Amato discuss her art practice at the link in bio.  — 📍Rose D’Amato’s work is featured in our 2024 SECA Art Award Exhibition on Floor 2. Free and open to the public!
