I tell the story all the time of how I went to the Columbus Museum in my Georgia hometown for the first time on an elementary school field trip with gerimdavis my beloved art teacher at St Anne’s School. It was an exhibition of thebobartlett paintings. As we walked through the show my eyes were wide open when they landed on an image of a man standing in yard. He was tall, and beautifully black. He met my gaze and I saw my future. I was captivated not only by him but by the idea that I wanted to make big beautiful paintings that told my story. 40 years later here we are. Representation matters. It did then and does now more than ever. Congratulations on a beautiful show Bo! miles.mcenery.gallery #columbusga #bobartlett #painters
