The Miners walk it off! ⛏️
Sussex County (47-34) won in thrilling fashion against the Schaumburg Boomers (49-32) by walking it off, 6-5, in 10 innings at skylandsstadium. The Miners snapped a three-game skid and now lead the New York Boulders by two games in the frontier_league’s Atlantic Conference East Division.
In a seesaw battle, Sussex County salvaged the series by tying the game, 4-4, in the bottom of the ninth to push it into extras. The Boomers took the lead in the top of the 10th, 5-4, but Will Zimmerman tied the game by knocking in the ghost runner, Kyle Singer, with an RBI double. Zimmerman boldly stole third and put the winning run 90 feet away. Miner of the Game Dom Johnson was the hero, lining an RBI single to left field on a 2-0 count to give Sussex County the walk-off win. Johnson went 2-for-4, scoring two runs with an RBI and a walk. He’s now hitting .333 on the season.
