One of the greatest things about rap & hip hop is the art of sampling 👨💻
It doesn’t only show musical skill to be able to flip a sample well, but also curation and well developed taste in music.
Before producers even start flipping a sample, they have to be able to pick an artist, an album, a song, and then a very specific portion or sound from that song to repurpose for their beat 🧠
When it’s done well, sampling adds so much more to the song, not just sonically, but contextually too. It’s a very underrated art form, and we wanted to take a look at some of the most sampled voices in modern rap 👇
