The College will be appointing Mark Thomas as its new Chief Executive Officer. Mark is currently the College’s Executive Director of Policy and Communications and has been acting as Interim Chief Executive since the departure of Chris Askew last month. He joined RCGP as Head of Policy in 2011 and was appointed as Executive Director of Policy and Engagement in December 2017, with a portfolio of responsibilities including Devolved Councils, policy and campaigns, corporate communications and International. During his time at the College, he has transformed its influencing work with government, opinion formers and other external stakeholders. and has worked with successive Chairs of Council to shape the RCGP’s strategic priorities. His background in public policy and campaigning includes roles at Unison, Shelter and the Confederation of British Industry (CBI).
