More tragic news out of Florida: The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission this week voted to approve annual Florida black bear hunting seasons set to begin this December.
Florida's bears are already struggling to survive as their homes get paved over and destroyed. The last thing these docile animals need is people gunning them down just because they're sniffing at garbage or crossing a lawn.
This irresponsible decision contradicts the commission's own black bear management plan, undermines decades of great work by its black bear team and threatens recovery of the species.
We'll do all we can to fight back.
