In her series Días Eternos, Ana María Arévalo Gosen documents the conditions of incarcerated women in Venezuela and El Salvador. Inspired by LOBA winner Jane Evelyn Atwood, she created this powerful body of work and received the Leica Oskar Barnack Award herself in 2021.
Her images reveal the lack of space, hygiene, and medical care and above all, the absence of justice. To portray this reality, Arévalo Gosen spent time inside the prisons, sometimes only minutes, sometimes hours, using her Leica Q to capture life in these confined spaces.
