Hope amidst hard times. That’s the word that describes my first visit back to Oakland in a few years. So much joy in seeing how much oaklandtrybe and other community organizations have helped transform spaces like San Antonio Park and clinton_park_oakland center in a few years. From building new basketball courts to community gardens to providing kids with a safe space to dance and play, people like Andrew, Chien, and Cal have poured so much into getting the resources to help benefit the community. Cal shared about how he and other ambassadors walk through the parks, picking up trash and connecting community members with resources that they might need, keeping an eye out for things that could get in the way of kids having a safe space to play.
