Can’t believe this was 2 YEARS AGO ALREADY!!! So proud of this kid… When thecharlierunner was 9 he ran a full marathon at Runningman. 26.2 miles… finished! He was so excited at the end... I was balling. And... he did it with such a kid energy. Basketball shorts... no shoe laces... zero complaining... and he cheered everyone else on along the way. Due to my role in the event I only got to do miles 15-18 with him and miles 24-26. The conversations were incredible. Positive talk only. He asked me so many questions about mindset and running and life. All I kept thinking about was how proud I was if his grit, will and determination. I told Charlie at mile 18, if you finish this it will be a historic accomplishment. Something he will have for the rest of his life that nobody can take away. Due to the track mileage and course layout Charlie actually hit 26.2 miles at lap 25, but he INSISTED on doing the extra lap to make sure it was official and that nobody would question him.
