Repost lex.app - Pauli Murray (b. 1910) was a civil rights activist, feminist, lawyer, Episcopal priest, and writer who spent much of their lifetime campaigning for civil rights, including staging a 1944 sit-in at a downtown DC establishment that refused to serve Black people. ⠀ Pauli wrestled with their identity from an early age. They dressed in masculine clothing and in their 20's changed their name from Pauline to the androgynous Pauli.
