The Miners win! ⛏️ Sussex County (49-36) edged the Joliet Slammers (38-47), 2-1, in a pitchers’ duel at Skylands Stadium. Billy Parsons (W, 8-4, 3.57 ERA) pitched 6 2/3 brilliant innings, allowing only one run on three hits while walking four and striking out eight. Parsons won his team-leading eighth game of the season. Right-hander Parker Primeaux (3.48 ERA) held Joliet hitless in his 1 1/3 innings of relief. Closer Tyler Luneke (S, 8, 3.38 ERA) pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth for his team-leading eighth save. Down 1-0 in the first inning, center fielder Dom Johnson hit a two-run home run to put the Miners up for good, 2-1. It was Johnson’s sixth home run of the year. The Miners’ magic number for both the division and a playoff berth is 8, pending the result of the second game of the Ottawa Titans’ doubleheader against the Trois-Rivières Aigles. 📷 Photos by hoopsapproved 💻 Read the recap at scminers.com 🌟 Watch highlights on our YouTube channel 🎙️ Listen ...
