Child marriage is an economic crisis as much as a human one. In Malawi, over a third of girls are married before 18—fueling a cycle of poverty that costs the nation millions. With presidential elections approaching, candidates have a unique opportunity: fully fund Malawi’s National Strategy to End Child Marriage and invest in girls’ futures. With our support, the womenlawyersassociationmalawi has raised awareness, provided free legal aid, and supported survivors in communities with high child marriage rates—reaching more than 7,000 people. Read more from Rothna Begum, Waging Justice for Women’s Legal Advocacy Director, and Hazel Olithia Miseleni, project lawyer with Malawi’s Women Lawyers Association and a WJW Fellowship alumna, at the link in bio. #WageJustice #EndChildMarriage #Malawi
