“When Kabul fell, it wasn’t just the country that fell. It was the fall of everything we had built. It was the fall of hope.”
Before August 15, 2021, Rokhsar Oria and her family lived a happy, stable life in Afghanistan. But when Kabul fell to the Taliban, their work with the U.S. made them targets, and they were forced to flee.
Their story echoes that of over 75,000 Afghan allies who left behind careers, homes, and memories to seek safety in the U.S.
Four years later,
Welcome.US honors the resilience of Afghan newcomers. We continue to support their path forward through partnerships that bring Afghan Special Immigrant Visa holders to safety through private sponsorship.
Join us for a webinar,
Welcome.US at the Table: Remembering our Afghan wartime allies, at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21, as we dive deep into the policies and current efforts impacting our Afghan allies, and explore how you can support Afghan newcomers.
Register for the webinar at the link in our bio.
