Sophie Hoem, who is from Fort Wayne, Indiana, first visited Creighton in the middle of a snowstorm. “But even though it was below freezing,” she says, “I could feel the welcoming community with everyone on campus.”
Sophie, a junior in the College of Nursing, says Creighton gives her a home-away-from-home feeling. “I can never walk from one end of campus to another without stopping to chat or waving at dozens of people,” she says. “That community, combined with the dedicated, rigorous nursing program, has provided me with countless opportunities to learn and grow.”
She is part of the Student to Nurse (S2RN) Sponsorship Program at Children’s Nebraska, which provides funding and job opportunities for nursing students. For the next two years, Sophie will work as a CNA at the hospital, where she’ll return after graduation as a pediatric nurse. “I hope to someday go back to school and get my d...
