Did You Know? 💡 Balkh, in modern day Afghanistan, is known as one of the birthplaces of #Nowruz. Nowruz has a long-standing connection with Balkh. Some say another name for Nowruz is Balkh, or another name for Balkh is Nowruz. The reason is that in all historical periods from the ancient period to today when we refer to sources, we see that from the time of Cyrus the Great, from the time of Hoshang, from the time of the Achaemenid’s, Balkh or Bactria was the most important satrapy. Regarding the foundation of Nowruz, for the first time in Balkh, historians have sited different periods and dates, with most stating it dates back to 3000 BC.
