tw: these books deal with sexual assault, showing the assault on the page in book one. “this hurts too much to touch with words.” but i’m probably going to have a lot of words anyway. i can’t talk about these books to anyone without crying. and yeah, i cry a lot about a lot of things, but this is different. there’s something about this town and these kids that has stuck with me- i finished the series in june and am just now feeling up to even attempting to putting words down to share about it. i love hockey but i hate so much of the culture around it and this entire series understands that so perfectly. it shows the dangers of allowing these young men to do whatever they want to whoever they want with no consequences their entire lives because they’re GOOD AT A SPORT. of what happens when those young men grow up and get to be the ones in charge. how putting the burden of forgiveness onto the survivors is so common we don’t even realize we’re doing it. most surprisingly to me, it ...
