The work plays with tension and harmony between two opposites, celebrating both their contrast and their unity. Like the larger Mar y Sol series, it reflects on the beauty I see in the cycles of life and death, something deeply connected to my own journey. I often return to the influence of my mother, Marisol. Her name carries the poetry of mar (sea), y (and), and sol (sun). That translation of “sea and sun” became a guiding symbol for me. Her encouragement shaped my path as an artist, and her passing became both a wound and a transformation, the spark that pushed me deeper into my practice.
