The Lost Continent is a themed land at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, originally designed as a realm of myths and legends with influences from Greek, Roman, Middle Eastern, and medieval European cultures. The land opened in 1999 divided into three sections: Merlinwood, themed to Arthurian legend and medieval fantasy; the Lost City, a Greco-Atlantis inspired ruinscape devoted to the gods of Olympus; and Sindbad’s Bazaar, an Arabian marketplace named after the legendary adventurer Sinbad. Its centerpiece attractions included Poseidon’s Fury: Escape from the Lost City, a special-effects show set within the crumbling Temple of Poseidon; The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad, a live stunt show; and a range of interactive and atmospheric elements such as the Mystic Fountain and the Troll Bridge. Merlinwood originally housed two coasters—Dueling Dragons and The Flying Unicorn—as well as the Enchanted Oak Tavern.
