Though some are vehemently anti-science, our members continue to push research-forward legislation focused on protecting our communities. Rep. Janelle Bynum (OR-05) introduced the bipartisan Microplastics Safety Act, which requires the FDA to examine the potential health risks of microplastics in our water systems, food supply, and bodies. In a study of 30 of Oregon’s most iconic waterways, microplastics were found in 100% of the samples! In a country manufactured around plastic usage, it’s critical that we know what we’re dealing with. This legislation will get us the data we need to protect our health. #cbcpac
