Howard University freshman Blayne Dunn has already found his place at The Mecca by playing trumpet with Howard University’s world-famous Showtime Marching Band.
The mechanical engineering major from Geismar, Louisiana, said joining the band was an easy decision.
“By being an out-of-state student, the immediate family bond within band is something I value and can count on as I enter this next stage of my life,” he said.
Clifford Southern, assistant director of bands for the HU Showtime Marching Band, said that Dunn is an asset to the band family.
“Blayne is not only an excellent musician, but he has shown us consistent workmanship, confidence and a positive attitude. It’s not often that you find all of these characteristics in an incoming freshman,” said Southern.
Dunn’s freshman experience will continue to be memorable as he will be traveling to Miami in a few days with the band to provide the soundtrack to the Orange Blossom Classic, where our Bison will face the FAMU Rattlers.
