Meet Yasodha Gopal, Associate Dean of Students for Health & Wellbeing, in the latest installment of We Are Reed! “I’m the Associate Dean of Students for Health & Wellbeing, which means that I oversee the Health and Counseling Center; SHARE, which stands for Sexual Health, Advocacy, and Relationship Education; and the Athletics, Fitness, and Outdoor Programs. That’s a big umbrella, and we aspire to weave wellbeing into everything that we do on campus. I think of my work in terms of person, place, and planet. “Before coming to Reed, I practiced pediatric and adolescent medicine for over 25 years. My shift into higher education was born out of the pandemic. So many of my patients were experiencing this existential angst, where everything they knew to be certain had become uncertain. And I just thought: this is my chance to combine my experience in medicine with a college population that I am really passionate about serving, during a time of great need.
