Meet Shishei Tsang, SEEDS Program Director, as she describes the work she does at Reed.
āIām the program director for SEEDS, which stands for Students for Education, Equity, and Direct Service. The big idea is that we facilitate community engagement.
āSEEDS offers service opportunities in the local community. For example, we host a PE class where students get credit for biking to Portlandās Community Cycling Center and volunteering there. We also run an internship program that lets students work off campus with one of our nonprofit partners, either to receive federal work-study or for PE credit.
āThen thereās the Collective Voices Series where we invite community partners to come to campus and talk about their work. And, lastly, we run the Reed Community Pantry. So, yeah, thatās a lot of things under the SEEDS umbrella, but itās not just meāI work with a group of amazing students and we do all of these things together.
