⚓ Underway to Honor History ⚓ Today, USS Constitution set sail from the Charlestown Navy Yard to commemorate her legendary battle with HMS Guerriere—the War of 1812 victory that earned her the nickname “Old Ironsides.” From Boston Harbor, visitors watched as she fired a 21-gun salute off Fort Independence and a 17-gun salute near the site where she was built in 1797.
