Artist Ferran Torras’ new mural was completed Wednesday along Center Street to revitalize Downtown Berkeley amid stalled development and construction projects.
Organized by the Downtown Berkeley Association, or DBA, and designed by Torras, the project is a collaboration between city stakeholders, real estate company Core Spaces and the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, or BAMPFA, which is a UC Berkeley entity.
“The inspiration came from the city of Berkeley itself—its cultural diversity, its energy, and the sense of community you feel when walking downtown,” Torras said in an email. “I wanted to create something that reflects both the city’s history and forward-looking spirit, as well as the many green spaces we’re fortunate to have access to.”
