Irvine Welsh, the author of ‘Trainspotting’, has accused former Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon of forcing trans beliefs “down people’s throats”.
Speaking to the Scottish tabloid newspaper The Daily Record, Welsh said: “Sturgeon was out of step on what people felt about trans debate. It was a fringe issue on which she had an obscure and contentious view that she tried to force down people’s throats. Don’t start telling people what a man is and what a woman is when you don't even know yourself.”
Welsh claims Sturgeon’s comments on the trans rights debate has damaged the campaign for Scottish Independence.
