The bagel and juice were the first meal they had in days 🥺 A mother and child escaped the cycle of abuse only to end up on the streets. The shelter system in NYC failed them, and in their search for safety, they came to the Asiyah Women’s Center. For weeks, they had been couch surfing and facing severe food insecurity. When every option was exhausted, they had no choice but to sleep on the streets. We were able to secure safe housing for them, but the work is not over.
