Source Music’s damages lawsuit against Min Hee-jin just took a turn—Min’s KakaoTalk messages have officially been ruled admissible in court. On August 22, the court held the third hearing in Source Music’s ₩500 million (about USD 357,000) damages suit against Min. Back in May during the second hearing, Source Music submitted a 20-minute PT presentation that included KakaoTalk chats. Min’s side pushed back, saying the messages were illegally obtained. The court wasn’t convinced, saying, “It’s hard to see these KakaoTalk records as a case equivalent to violating the Protection of Communications Secrets Act,” and decided to accept them as evidence.
