He’s already a familiar face around Riverwood, and we are pleased to announce that Thomas Hanson will be our next Head Boys Tennis Coach! Coach Hanson joined Riverwood’s Health and PE Department in 2024 and currently serves as Raider Football’s Defensive Coordinator and runs our summer weight room program. Hanson has 27 years of coaching experience, including coaching tennis at Hereford High School in Baltimore County, where his team won a county championship and several individual players competed in the Maryland State Championships. He most recently served as the head football coach at South Cobb High School and has taught and coached at schools around Metro Atlanta, including Marietta High School and Harrison High School, where he helped the team win the 2019 6A State Championship. Coach Hanson’s oldest daughter, Carolina, grew up playing high-level tennis in the Atlanta area and for Marietta High School, and currently plays for Berry College in Rome. He has also worked in c...
