So they built their own railway, heading through Sault Ste. Marie (pronounced “Soo”), and the rest is rail history. From the iconic Soo Line Building downtown to the still-active Humboldt Yards in North Minneapolis, the Soo Line helped shape our city’s skyline and its shipping routes.
