This year, two Jr. Rock players were honoured with their division’s Tucker Williams Award: Grayson Chapman (U13) and Avery Shirtliff (U17). The award, which recognizes Jr. NLL Tournament MVPs, was named in honour of Tucker, an inspiring eight-year-old boy who in December of 2014 passed away in his parents’ arms after a heroic battle against Burkitt’s Lymphoma. Tucker, who’s bravery and courage continues to inspire individuals in our lacrosse community and well beyond the sport’s borders, is the son of Las Vegas Desert Dogs head coach & general manager Shawn Williams and brother of Oshawa FireWolves forward Dyson Williams. Like his father, brother, and sister Dylana Williams, a standout at the University of Albany & Team Canada, Tucker too was an extremely talented lacrosse player with a promising future.
