🍎 Policy wins in the fight against hunger! This year, feedingtexas and food banks across the state — including NTFB — made meaningful progress at the Texas Legislature. With the help of over 60 advocates from North Texas, including agency partners, board members, UTD students, and NTFB staff, we helped champion anti-hunger policies that are now law. ✅ Food is Medicine: Medicaid can now support nutritional services and pilot medically tailored meals. ✅ TIERS System Fixes: $300M to streamline SNAP and Medicaid application processes, which will reduce errors and increase processing times. ✅ Sales Tax Exemption: Food banks are now exempt from motor vehicle sales tax. ✅ Summer EBT Supported (but vetoed — we’ll keep fighting). ✅ $20M+ for fresh food through surplus ag grants and nutrition incentive programs. ✅ Root cause wins in housing, healthcare, and financial transparency. 👏 Thank you to everyone who raised their voice.
