Three years after it was announced, one of the largest residential developments in western downtown Des Moines is finally set to start rising, with construction beginning by the end of 2025 following a July groundbreaking and initial site work, contractor Hausmann Development says. The 202-unit, seven-story apartment complex at 1435 Mulberry St. will occupy the demolished former headquarters of the relocated Des Moines Area Religious Council across the street from Central Iowa Shelter & Services. Parking and amenities for residents will occupy the first two levels of the complex, with apartment units on the upper five floors.
