In Scotland, I kept asking Dylan if he believed in fairies because how could a place as majestic and ethereal like the Fairy Pools exist if they didn’t? Scotland felt like a place where dreams are born, breath itself is given life, and everything good burst into creation from the ancient earth beneath my feet. The air was delicious to inhale, the ground a sturdy assurance of my own existence, and yet, somehow, made me feel so incredibly small against the vast landscape of Scotland’s past and now. The Fairy Pools in the Isle of Skye were my absolute favorite thing we did. It’s a high, a sense of nirvana, that I will forever be chasing, grasping for, and dreaming of.
