Pedro Pascal is in talks to join director Todd Haynes’s upcoming gay romance, “De Noche,” taking over the role originally slated for Joaquin Phoenix. The film, set in the 1930s, centres on a love story between two men fleeing Los Angeles for Mexico and is planned to begin production in early 2026 in Guadalajara, Mexico according to Deadline. Pascal would star opposite Danny Ramirez, who remains attached to the project.
The film was paused when Phoenix exited days before filming was due to begin in 2024, despite having brought the project to Killer Films which has a long history making LGBTQ+ fare. Pascal is nominated at this year’s Emmys for HBO’s “The Last of Us” in the Best Actor Drama Series category. He was also nominated for “The Last of Us” in Actor TV Drama at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards.
