Come with me on my bunion surgery journey 👣 Sharing my experience because I wish someone shared theirs with me 20 years ago! Then I wouldn’t have waited so long to finally do this 😔 Here are some things I learned through this process: 1. Bunions are genetic! Thanks mom & grandma.. Most people think they’re a result of wearing heels or tight shoes - which def plays a role - but weak ligaments are what cause the big toe metatarsal to drift outwards. Hypermobile people (hi, it me 🙋🏻‍♀️) are more likely to get them. 2. There are apparently only 3 doctors in the world that offer this non-bone shaving / breaking surgery (with no fusing or metal bits in my feet either), mine being one of them. That’s crazy.. this method needs to be more accessible. 3. Post-surgery nerve damage is weird. I’m 6 weeks in now and there are still parts of my feet I can’t feel. But it’s coming back slowly!
