“What can I say, I’m a sucker for abandoned stuff, misplaced stuff, forgotten stuff, any old stuff which despite the light of progress and all that, still vanishes every day like shadows at noon, goings unheralded, passings unmourned.” There’s something about exploring old buildings and derelict ruins that I can’t explain. I’ve always had a macabre curiosity of the history of people and places, and often spend too much time lost in thought trying to mentally picture what buildings were like before they were abandoned or repurposed. I love the feeling of being transported back in time and haunted by the ‘ghosts’ and memories of these spaces, especially if their intended purpose was relatively insignificant. It makes me sad that these as time continues to pass, these places will be forgotten and likely demolished to make room for newer, more modern structures. Till then, we can remember these places by exploring them and reading up on their history, so that even when it no longer exists...
