Growing up I had a love/hate relationship with the fact that my birthday was on Valentine’s Day. Most of the time it was the latter, because I’d be annoyed at the Hallmark holiday stealing my spotlight, meaning friends would be too busy with their significant others to celebrate with me on the actual day, or that it’d be impossible to have dinner anywhere without being overcharged (if I can even get a table!) But because of this, I’ve learned to appreciate the days around it and not place so much importance on a single day of significance, celebrating life no matter what the date is. I’ve also grown to prefer low-key, more intimate get togethers with the people who matter over big, exhausting parties that are also great but often need a full day to recover from. Today was a day of video games till (almost) sunrise, sleeping in, a brief hike to catch the sunset, lots of homemade delicious with caiuschung, and plenty of virtual birthday love - thank you all for the birthday wishes ❤️🥰...
