Like most people, I thought 2020 was going to be the start of something great as we ride into a new decade. I had all these exciting plans that were shattered less than a month into the new year. Instead, it’s been 11 months of living and breathing through face masks, struggling with work instability and financial uncertainty as studios were shutdown with each wave, and feeling so close yet so far from my family and friends. But through the bad, a lot of good has also come out of it. I learned to pivot my career for new job opportunities that I would’ve been too scared to try before. Not being able to travel allowed me to appreciate the beauty of our own city and to discover all that it has to offer. The tough times helped me realize the importance of being kind to both myself and others. And it’s made me grateful for the small things in life I’d normally take for granted.
