Today is Whale Shark Day. Yet sharks are losing their bite. Whales are losing their voice. Countless other species are losing their habitats.⁣ ⁣ The current system that puts hefty profits over a healthy planet is driving heatwaves, acidification, pollution, overfishing and habitat destruction which are having a devastating effect on ocean creatures. ⁣ ⁣ The ocean can bounce back if given a chance. Countries have committed to protecting a third of the ocean by 2030, but first we need at least 60 of them to sign the Global Ocean Treaty into law. ⁣ ⁣ With the Treaty, countries can set up sanctuaries in the high seas, putting areas off limits to damaging human activity.
