Auburn welcomes Ball State back to the Plains for just the fourth time. The two teams first faced off in 2001. Jason Campbell made his debut in an Auburn uniform as a true freshman and led the Tigers to a 30-0 victory. Ball State was held to 92 total yards of offense. For the 2005 matchup, Auburn scored every time they possessed the football. Kenny Irons and Brad Lester each scored two rushing touchdowns, with Lester adding a 93-yard kickoff return for a score. Auburn would dominate, winning 63-3. Things were a little different in 2009. Auburn muffed an early punt after a long thunderstorm delay. Ball State got possession at the 18-yard line and scored their first touchdown in the series, and led early on. After one quarter, it was tied 7-7.
