About
The Court of Miracles takes its name from either The Miracle Man (1919) or, more likely, The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923), where it is described as “a city of thieves; a hideous blot on the face of Paris.” This historic section of the backlot has hosted many of Universal’s legendary monsters, including Dracula (Bela Lugosi), the Wolf Man (Lon Chaney Jr.), and the Hunchback of Notre Dame (Lon Chaney Sr.). In 1931, Frankenstein’s Monster made his first public appearance here as terrified townspeople fled the square.
