This is a message for creatives. I didn’t get PAID for this gig. Shocking I know! So why did I do it? Even after being able to be full time in my business, raising my rates and having a livable income, I still do things for free. Yep! Whether is a personal project, portfolio project, event or place I’ve just been wanting to go to or a cause or campaign I care about etc. Having hindsight and using discretion are key because it’s definitely a no more often than it’s a yes but long term relationships, further exposure and learning are all valuable contributions to your growth as a creative and as a business person.
