Mickalene Thomas’s former fiancée and business partner, Racquel Chevremont, has accused the contemporary artist of sexual harassment, nonpayment, and workplace retaliation. Chevremont is seeking at least $10 million, as well as interest and attorneys’ fees, in “redress for years of exploitation, nonpayment, and unlawful conduct.” Chevremont, an art consultant, curator, and “Real Housewives of New York” cast member, worked as an advisor and liaison for Thomas’s studio from 2012 to 2022, and maintained a personal relationship with the artist that ended in 2020.
