A large protest artwork by Anish Kapoor was hoisted onto a North Sea gas platform yesterday, revealing an enormous canvas work entitled “BUTCHERED.” Protesters connected to Greenpeace fittingly proceeded to cover it with 1,000 liters of a “blood-red” mixture, composed of seawater, beetroot powder, and non-toxic dye. A press release from Greenpeace connects the work to the extreme heat waves and wildfires impacting parts of the world this summer, as well as flash floods in China and northern India. Does it add anything to the conversation? No. Did it piss off the oil and gas industry? Probably, so it can’t be all bad. Read the story by hragv at our link in bio. . . .
