Here’s a peek into the night that 700 queer “pilgrims” and their allies gathered at New York’s historic St John the Divine cathedral for a Pride celebration like no other, each dressed in a monochrome outfit with a whimsical Medieval flair. The May 31 event marked the second annual “Pilgrimage to Pride,” co-organized by the Greedy Peasant (greedy.peasant), an Instagram and TikTok personality who hails from “Medieval New York,” and artist Yuliya Tsukerman (yeahliya). Inside the Episcopal church, attendees marveled at each other’s sartorial creations while eating snacks, drinking wine, buzzing around craft tables, and entering a raffle for merch, tours of the cathedral, and a papier-mâché model crafted by Tsukerman of wacky details from the church’s tapestry collection.
