Acute rage, straight up rage, reflex rage. In the series Degrees of Deaf Rage, chrisunkim uses diagrams of mathematical angles—including acute, right, and 360 degrees—as tools to measure the amount of feeling that accumulates from frustration to profound rage.
Degrees of My Deaf Rage in the Art World (2018) charts a range of experiences—and corresponding quantities of fury—that are specific to Kim's life as a working artist. These accounts of navigating systems that can be inaccessible and even hostile to Deaf and disabled people are both a personal coping mechanism and a prompt for institutional reflection and change.
