Our new research makes it clear: economic insecurity is a mental health crisis for LGBTQ+ young people.
➡️ 40% of LGBTQ+ youth have faced food insecurity, houselessness, or unmet basic needs
➡️Transgender and nonbinary youth experienced 77% greater odds of food insecurity
➡️ LGBTQ+ youth who have faced houselessness had over twice the odds of a suicide attempt in the past year (9% vs. 24%)
Basic needs are not optional — they are essential for survival, dignity, and mental health. For LGBTQ+ young people everywhere, housing is healthcare. Food is mental healthcare. Safety is non-negotiable.
