This week has brought a wave of fear, confusion, and uncertainty for our community. On January 21, the day after Inauguration Day, The Trevor Project’s classic crisis services (phone, text, and chat) saw a 46% increase in volume compared to typical daily rates observed in weeks prior.
We know from our research that anti-LGBTQ+ policies, and the harmful rhetoric surrounding them, is taking a damaging toll on the mental health and well-being of LGBTQ+ youth across the U.S. Let’s be clear: young people shouldn’t have to worry about uprooting their life just to feel safe, or cross state lines to access essential health care.
