This 136-year-old mansion still stands on E. Broad St. ➡️ The home was built in 1889 for W.H. Jones, a dry goods proprietor based in Columbus. He reportedly told the builders to “spare no expense”. This stately mansion was the result. Standing near the corner of Broad St. and Parsons Ave., the Victorian home blends intricate floral motifs with eccentric medieval designs like gargoyles and spear-like forms. Inside are curving staircases, stained glass windows, and parquet floors. W.H. and Josephine Jones lived in the home until their deaths in the early 1920s. The home was passed onto their children, and later their grandchildren. Later, it became home to a furniture company, a doctor’s office, and a non-profit organization.
